Bangkok: The Director-General of the Pollution Control Department revealed that air quality has resulted in PM2.5 levels in Bangkok reaching levels that are beginning to affect health in almost every district. He emphasized the need for continued vigilance until December 11. Nationwide, 16 provinces have dust levels exceeding the standard. He recommended reducing outdoor activities and recommending that orange zone areas use alternatives to working from home during the air pollution crisis.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surin Worakithamrong, Director-General of the Pollution Control Department, revealed that PM2.5 levels in several districts of Bangkok are at the orange level, indicating that they are beginning to affect health. The main factor is the overcast weather and weak winds, which are preventing proper dust dispersion.
Today, Bangkok has implemented a “Work from Home” policy during periods of high PM2.5 levels to reduce risk and reduce vehicle use that may increase air pollution. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has also implemented this measure as a model.
Sixteen other provinces with air quality exceeding standards are: Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Uthai Thani, Singburi, Ang Thong, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong.
From the forecast of dust trends for the next 7 days between 5-11 December 2025, it is as follows:
– Bangkok and surrounding areas continue to see increasing dust levels.
– 17 northern provinces have an increasing trend in some areas.
– The Northeast region must be closely monitored.
– The Eastern region must be closely monitored.
– The southern region still has good air quality.
The Pollution Control Department has issued the following health recommendations:
– The general public should monitor their health, reduce the time spent doing outdoor activities, and wear a mask to protect against dust.
– At-risk groups include the elderly, children, and patients with respiratory diseases. They should avoid areas with high dust levels and, if they experience any unusual symptoms, should see a doctor immediately.
The public is asked to monitor air quality at www.air4thai.com, www.airbkk.com, the Air4Thai app, and AirBKK. 512
