Bangkok: Political observer Thepthai Senpong has drawn parallels between the alleged collusion in the Senate and the cheating in local government exams, urging the government to launch a direct investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
According to Thai News Agency, Thepthai expressed his views on his Facebook page, "Thepthai - Political Talk," asserting that the similarities between Senate collusion and exam cheating are evident. During a forum marking the second anniversary of the Senate election, participants, including Parit Wacharasindhu, opposition whip chairman and list MP from the People's Party, and Satit Wongnongteuy, deputy leader of the Democrat Party and list MP, addressed the evidence of collusion. Witnesses involved in the Senate election process, who were former Senate candidates, provided insights into the systematic practices employed during the selection process.
The forum highlighted the emergence of individuals willing to testify about their experiences in the Senate election. These witnesses, who were privy to voting instructions and the election process, have begun to reveal evidence of bribery and procedural misconduct. This second wave of testimonies includes several senatorial candidates, with expectations of more coming forward due to the extensive network involved in the collusion.
Thepthai emphasized the need for courageous individuals to step forward with information to ensure justice and transparency in the Senate election process. He noted the similarities between the Senate voting collusion and the corruption found in civil service and local government recruitment exams. Both require widespread networks and involve numerous intermediaries and political figures.
Speculation continues that the Senate election collusion and the recruitment exam fraud operate under similar methods within the same political network. The involvement of a large number of people in both scenarios makes uncovering witnesses relatively straightforward.
