Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, alongside his wife, visited Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam to pay respects to His Holiness Somdej Phra Ariyavongsakhatayan, the Supreme Patriarch, marking the New Year 2026. The Supreme Patriarch offered blessings for the Prime Minister and other officials from the Ministry of Interior, sprinkling holy water as part of the ceremony. In return, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the Supreme Patriarch, praying for his health and continued role as an inspiration to the nation.
According to Thai News Agency, the visit coincided with that of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, a Privy Councillor. Mr. Anutin greeted General Prayut with a wai, and the two engaged in a conversation about their well-being and health. The interaction was cordial, with smiles exchanged between Mr. Anutin and General Prayut. General Prayut provided encouragement to Mr. Anutin, offering advice on Thai-Cambodian border issues and emphasizing the need for patience in his work.
Reporters noted that Mr. Anutin assisted General Prayut as they walked through the temple, offering his support as General Prayut descended the stairs before departing.
