Bangkok: The Prime Minister believes that doctors and forensic scientists can’t conceal the death toll. The Prime Minister believes that doctors and the Institute of Forensic Medicine have stated that the death toll cannot be concealed after rumors that the death toll from the floods is in the thousands. He revealed that he will let the water drain and then work will continue after a clip of “Chada” dismissing Prime Minister Pan appeared.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed the online circulating video clip of Mr. Chada Set, a Uthai Thani MP for the Bhumjaithai Party, dismissing Mayor Pan (Mr. Narongporn Na Phatthalung, Mayor of Hat Yai Municipality), during a meeting of the Songkhla provincial administration to address the Hat Yai flooding problem, in which he was present. He stated that he had told Mr. Chada to calm down, believing that he would be in the area for several days and understand the situation. He added that while working, if someone had good intentions, he would let them vent. Once they vented, it was over. He expressed empathy and sought cooperation.
Regarding the issue of whether other provinces will also receive funeral expenses, the Prime Minister replied that this matter has already been clearly addressed. Regarding whether Muslim deceased persons who have previously had funeral rites will also receive funeral expenses, the Prime Minister stated that the results of the autopsy will be required, and that the medical examiner’s report will be the primary consideration.
Regarding the reports of more than 1,000 flood victims, the Prime Minister reiterated that he trusts the doctors, the Ministry of Public Health, the Institute of Forensic Medicine, and other government agencies. As he stated, he wants everyone to express their opinions. It’s a good thing when people express their opinions, so we can investigate whether there are any omissions. He concluded that there is nothing significant. He emphasized that the doctors’ opinions must be the mainstay. We must act openly. Everyone who died has relatives and family. If someone goes missing without being reported, they’re likely hiding them. He doesn’t know where they’re hiding them. There’s no need to hide them. There’s no need to do anything that would conceal them from the public. This is a natural disaster. Everything must be revealed. He will listen to their opinions and suggestions. He listens to all of them. He will implement any that are good and encourage increased cooperation.
