Bangkok: The Prime Minister has issued a directive emphasizing the prohibition of any encroachment or trampling on the dignity of the Thai people in relation to the Ban Nong Chan border dispute. He clarified that no deadline has been set for Cambodians to vacate the area before the dissolution of Parliament, underscoring that matters of national security should not be constrained by timelines.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed concerns regarding the timeline for pushing Cambodians to leave Ban Nong Chan in Sa Kaeo Province. He assured that the military is handling the situation and that it is separate from the upcoming dissolution of Parliament. He emphasized that the issue is fundamentally about national security.
In response to inquiries about any potential deadlines for the departure of Cambodians prior to the dissolution of Parliament, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that these issues are unrelated. He highlighted that national security and sovereignty are paramount and do not operate within fixed boundaries. The Prime Minister stressed that the guiding principles of national sovereignty include prohibiting encroachment, trampling, and any harm to the dignity of Thai citizens, and reiterated that these principles are not contingent upon the political timeline.
