Singapore: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is set to embark on an official visit to Singapore on November 7th, aimed at celebrating 60 years of Thai-Singapore friendship and enhancing cooperation in economic, digital, and public health sectors, thereby creating new driving forces for the region.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat announced that Anutin, who also serves as the Minister of Interior, will visit Singapore at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The visit is intended to fortify relations and promote collaboration across various fields, including participation in the SET Government Roadshow 2025.
This visit, which is Anutin’s fourth overseas trip, holds particular importance as it commemorates the 60th anniversary of Thai-Singapore diplomatic relations, following a visit to Thailand by Singapore’s Prime Minister in November 2014. Upon his arrival at Changi International Airport, Anutin will partake in several ceremonial and diplomatic engagements, including the VIP Orchid Naming Ceremony at the Singapore Botanic Gardens and bilateral discussions with Singapore’s Prime Minister.
The itinerary also includes an official welcome ceremony at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the exchange of agreements witnessed by the Prime Ministers of both countries, and a joint press conference. In the afternoon, Anutin will meet with Singapore’s President and address the SET Government Roadshow 2025, where he will engage with leading investors. His schedule also includes meetings with the Thai community, workers, and students in Singapore before his return to Thailand that evening.
Mr. Siripong highlighted that the visit aims to sustain the positive momentum of cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, building on discussions held during the ASEAN Summit last October. Key issues include promoting food and energy security, developing digital and green economies, and enhancing public health and elderly care cooperation, alongside efforts to combat transnational crimes like online scams.
During the visit, it is anticipated that two significant cooperation documents will be signed: a Memorandum of Understanding on Rice Trade to bolster food security, and an MOU between Thailand’s Department of Medical Services and Singapore Health Services to improve elderly care. These agreements are expected to contribute to tangible advancements in economic cooperation and the quality of life for citizens of both nations.
“The Prime Minister is poised to promote concrete progress in Thailand-Singapore cooperation, especially in economics, medicine, and food security. This visit will reinforce our close relationship as neighbors and key partners within the ASEAN region,” remarked Mr. Siripong, emphasizing the visit’s significance in marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and setting the stage for future collaboration.
