Bangkok: The Prime Minister is currently awaiting Senate approval before proceeding with the resignation of Dr. Soran as Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to submit to His Majesty the King.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul clarified in a recent interview that the decision to reinstate Professor Dr. Saran Boonbaichaiyapruk as Chairman of NBTC, due to alleged qualification issues, strictly adheres to legal procedures. The Prime Minister emphasized that the Senate's resolution is a necessary step, and the decision made by the Senate will be final and binding. This approach ensures compliance with the law and the Constitution.

In response to remarks by the NBTC chairman, who expressed disagreement with the selection committee's resolution citing lack of qualifications, the Prime Minister reiterated that all parties involved are fulfilling their responsibilities. He recounted questioning Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan about the urgency of the situation following the selection committee's resolution. Mr. Pakorn recommended awaiting the Senate's meeting before any further actions. The Prime Minister confirmed that once the matter is in his hands, he must proceed according to the Senate's decision, without personal discretion in the matter.
