Bangkok: The Government Savings Bank (GSB) board has approved the "SML PLUS" program, allocating funds from the "Thai Helps Thai, Capital Increase, Half-Interest Rate" scheme. The initiative aims to bolster the grassroots economy across the nation by allocating an additional 283 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sukhsomruay Wantaniyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, chaired the 6th/2026 meeting of the National Village and Urban Community Fund Committee (NVUCF Board) held at Room 301, 3rd Floor, Command Building 1, Government House. During the meeting, the Fund Board emphasized the need to expedite the review process to ensure approval covers as many village funds nationwide as possible, with a goal of reaching a total loan amount of 1,000 million baht or more in future rounds.
The meeting also approved the allocation of an additional 283 million baht in the latest round of the "Thai Helps Thai Project: Capital Increase, Half-Interest Rate" (Phase 2). This funding is intended to reduce interest burdens, improve liquidity, and strengthen the financial stability of village funds.
Moreover, draft regulations were approved to enhance economic and social capabilities for individuals in villages and urban communities. This includes adjustments to the 2026 action plan, guidelines for 2027, and defining key performance indicators (KPIs) for assessing revolving funds efficiency. The implementation of the pending Phase 3 project to increase capital for village and urban community funds was also expedited to ensure that fund members receive the full benefits.
