Prime Minister Cancels Engagements to Address Urgent Energy Crisis

Bangkok: The Prime Minister urgently convened a meeting at Government House to tackle the ongoing energy crisis. The Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, arrived at the Government House at 10:30 AM, having canceled his planned engagements for the day, including his attendance at the World Water Day 2026 opening ceremony. This event, themed 'Water and Gender', was held at the National Water Resources Office in Nonthaburi Province. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, attended the event on his behalf.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister immediately proceeded to the Khu Fah Building, where he paid respects to the statue of Narasimha, a customary act for him. Reports suggest that he is organizing a meeting with pertinent agencies to address the energy crisis affecting the nation.

At approximately 10:40 AM, Police Lieutenant General Ruudhpol Naovarat, the Minister of Justice, and Mr. Danucha Pichayanant, the Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), joined the Prime Minister at the Government House. Shortly after, Mr. Atthapol Rerkpipibul, the Minister of Energy, also arrived at the location.

In a related development, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa arrived at the Khu Fah Building, presumably to present his resume for verification before his nomination for a ministerial role to the Cabinet Secretariat.
