Bangkok: The Prime Minister has not yet called a meeting after Cambodia fired mortar rounds into the Chong Bok channel, indicating that the military is managing the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, following the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul was questioned by the press regarding the incident in which Thai soldiers were injured by mortar fire from the Cambodian side near Chong Bok, Hill 469, in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The press inquired if the cabinet had discussed the matter, to which Mr. Anutin responded that there was nothing further to discuss at the moment and that they were monitoring the situation. He mentioned that the cabinet had only a few agenda items for the day.
In response to questions about whether there would be any security meetings, the Prime Minister did not stop to provide a detailed answer. However, as he walked back to the Thai Khu Fah building at Government House, he briefly remarked that the military was handling the situation.
