Muang thong thani: The Prime Minister opened the academic seminar of the "Association of Municipalities of Thailand," highlighting the government's dedication to empowering local administrative organizations (LAOs). These organizations play a crucial role in managing citizens' quality of life. The mayor, who presided over the seminar, stressed the importance of LAOs being proactive in disaster response and pledged to address outstanding issues within the council to improve people's lives.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul led the opening ceremony of the 1st Annual Conference and Academic Seminar of the Association of Municipalities of Thailand for the fiscal year 2026 at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center. He expressed honor in meeting local leaders nationwide, emphasizing the forum's significance in reflecting grassroots governance's power.

The Prime Minister underscored that amidst rapid global changes, national development relies not only on strategic planning but also on effective implementation at the local level. Strengthening municipalities in administration and budget is crucial, he stated, allowing them to make independent decisions, solve problems, and respond quickly to situations. By fostering job creation, income generation, community tourism, and grassroots economic development, municipalities can drive substantial progress.

Disaster management was identified as a key issue for the meeting. The Prime Minister highlighted the increase in disaster frequency and severity in Thailand, urging municipalities to adopt proactive planning, effective early warning systems, and integrated cooperation with public participation. This approach ensures communities are well-prepared to handle disasters effectively.

The provision of basic public utilities, including clean water, environmental management, and quality of life care, remains a priority for municipalities, particularly in the context of an aging society. The Prime Minister stressed that good governance, transparency, and efficient use of resources are vital for building public trust in local administrative organizations. Strong LAOs contribute to a strong Thailand.

The Prime Minister assured attendees that, whether as Prime Minister or Minister of Interior, he is committed to the shared goal of improving citizens' well-being and quality of life. He promised to continue pushing forward outstanding issues from the previous parliament to achieve these goals swiftly and sustainably for public benefit.
