Bangkok: The Prime Minister presided over a merit-making ceremony and alms-giving in honor of His Majesty the King's birthday on July 28, 2026. This significant event, held at 7:00 AM at Sanam Luang, was led by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who guided the proceedings in tribute to the monarch.

According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony saw attendance from prominent figures including members of the Privy Council and their spouses, the President of the Parliament, the President of the Supreme Court, the President of the Senate, the presidents of constitutional organizations, cabinet ministers and their spouses, the Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, officials from the Royal Household, the Governor of Bangkok, armed forces commanders, the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and his wife, heads of government agencies, and representatives from the private sector.

Upon the Prime Minister's arrival at Sanam Luang, ten senior monks took their positions. The Prime Minister commenced the ceremony by lighting incense and candles to honor the Triple Gem and offered these before a portrait of His Majesty the King. Following this, officials recited the precepts, which were administered by the ten senior monks, leading to a series of Buddhist prayers.

The Prime Minister, along with the Privy Council, the President of the Parliament, the President of the Supreme Court, the President of the Senate, and presidents of constitutional organizations, offered robes and other offerings to the monks. The Prime Minister then engaged in a symbolic water-pouring ritual for blessings, paid homage to the Triple Gem, and expressed respects before the King's portrait. The event concluded with the Prime Minister leading participants in offering alms to 175 monks.
