Prime Minister Sets Strategic Policy for Internal Security Operations Command in 2026

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has announced a strategic policy directive for the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) focusing on “sustainability and modernity” for the year 2026. The policy emphasizes accelerating the suppression of transnational threats and scams, promoting proactive collaboration with communities, and improving public access to places of refuge.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in his role as Director of ISOC, attended the 2025 operational plan summary meeting where he laid out the operational plan for 2026. The Prime Minister highlighted that addressing security issues is an urgent government priority aimed at improving the quality of life and suppressing threats to national security and peace.

The Prime Minister also discussed with the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, who serves as Deputy Director of ISOC, the future direction for ISOC. The focus will be on sustainable and modern security that is people-centered. The approach will shift from reactive to proactive, addressing root causes and integrating efforts to achieve clear results and effectively respond to the public. To ensure agencies are prepared to prevent and resolve issues in 2026, specific actions have been outlined.

The first action involves preventing urgent threats, focusing on transnational crimes, drug problems along the border, and solving issues in the southern provinces. This includes public participation to create peace and reduce violence. Efforts will also target technology crimes, scammers, and transnational terrorism, aiming to build public immunity and establish a comprehensive tip-off network. ISOC will also work on managing information to block fake news and prevent social division.

The second action supports government initiatives to elevate problem-solving concerning land ownership, human trafficking, and statelessness. Agencies are tasked with implementing the Security, Prosperity, and Sustainability Plan, protecting communities from threats, enhancing energy readiness, and ensuring food security. This includes preventing illegal imports and exports of agricultural and fishery products and being prepared for unusual situations or disasters. For disaster relief and environmental issues, proactive measures will be adopted in collaboration with local authorities to address PM 2.5, wildfires, air pollution, and water contamination.

The third action focuses on organizational improvement and image enhancement to foster transparency and public trust. This includes enhancing personnel capabilities to handle new threats, ensuring transparency in all missions, and maintaining accountability in budget allocations and public communications.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to ISOC executives and relevant parties for their dedication and cooperation in advancing the country’s security mission. The commitment and sacrifices made have led to tangible benefits for the people, ensuring that Thailand progresses with stability and sustainability.
