Bangkok: The Prime Minister expressed sympathy for Thaksin after the Supreme Court imposed a one-year prison sentence, expressing regret that a former government official had to face such a situation. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions’ decision to impose a one-year prison sentence on former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, stating briefly, “I’m sorry. I sympathize with him.” He added, “I don’t want someone of his caliber, someone of this caliber, to have governed the country in this situation.”
