Prime Minister Travels by Skytrain to Promote Energy Conservation

Bangkok: The Prime Minister arrived at Government House by Skytrain, setting an example of energy conservation for the public. He chaired a meeting of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), hoping for a liberalization of oil prices.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul traveled from Parliament to Government House in a red-plated BYD Shark Grey electric car with license plate number ? - 9798. This move supports measures to reduce energy consumption, particularly fuel, amid recent price hikes. The gasoline and gasohol prices have surged by 2 baht per liter, while diesel has increased by 1.80 baht per liter.

Reporters noted that the Prime Minister adjusted his travel arrangements for the day, opting for no motorcade and only a driver and two assistants, aligning with energy conservation policies influenced by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. He is expected to discuss the energy impact in a meeting with the National Economic and Social Development Council this afternoon.

Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, is scheduled to chair a meeting to discuss the energy situation at the Phakdi Bodin Building, Government House, at 4:30 PM. The meeting is anticipated to address potential adjustments in electricity prices for the May-August period, with a possible change from 3.88 baht per unit to a range of 3.88-4.59 baht per unit.
