Prime Minister Urges Patience for Military Statement on Ceasefire

Bangkok: The Prime Minister requested to wait for the military to make a statement regarding the 72-hour ceasefire. The Prime Minister requested to wait for the military's statement after 72 hours of the ceasefire, stating that a Joint Border Committee (JBC) can only occur if there is sincerity. If it is reasonable, Thailand is ready to discuss. He also indicated that the 20 million yuan compensation offered by China must await discussions between Minister Sihasak and the relevant parties.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, in an interview before the Cabinet meeting, addressed the 72-hour deadline, which expires at 12:00 PM, and whether the military or the Prime Minister would make the statement. The Prime Minister revealed that the military and the National Security Council (NSC) would likely act as stated in the Joint Statement.

When asked about Cambodia's attempts to expedite Thailand's participation in the Joint Boundary Committee (JBC) meeting by crossing over to the Cambodian side, the Prime Minister stated that, "We are monitoring the situation. Everything must be done with sincerity and a genuine intention to bring peace to the region. If that's the case, Thailand is ready to discuss and find solutions together based on reason."

Regarding China's offer of 20 million yuan in assistance to Thailand for recovery from damage to people and property, the Prime Minister stated that the proposal was raised during a meeting between the three countries: the Foreign Ministers of Thailand, Cambodia, and China. He added that details have not yet been finalized and further discussions are needed. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew also returned last night.
