Surat thani: Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya visited an exhibition and display of traditional Thai textiles and community handicrafts from Southern Thailand at Surat Thani Rajabhat University.
According to Thai News Agency, the visit took place on February 20, 2026, as part of a project under the royal initiative 'Wear Thai Textiles for Fun.' The project aims to develop and enhance traditional Thai textile wisdom in an environmentally friendly manner, following the concept of 'Sustainable Fashion.'
Her Royal Highness graciously hosted a luncheon in honor of the diplomatic corps and led them on a tour of the exhibition. The event showcased Thai textiles and community handicrafts from Southern Thailand. Her Royal Highness also granted the diplomatic corps an audience to discuss her work in continuing the royal aspirations of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, in preserving traditional crafts and Thai textiles. Her efforts include promoting sustainable livelihoods for weaving groups in all regions, leveraging her expertise from both domestic and international experiences to develop Thai textiles while maintaining unique local patterns and making them attractive in the global market.
This event provided the diplomatic corps a chance to witness the royal contributions of Her Royal Highness in preserving, maintaining, and developing Thai handicrafts. It also allowed local communities to engage with and learn from the experiences of foreigners through the diplomatic corps, aligning with her "Sustainable Fashion" initiative.
