Progressive Movement leaders are not worried after 44 MPs may be disqualified for life.

Bangkok, Move Forward leaders are not worried after 44 MPs may be disqualified for life, believing they can explain each person individually. "Pita" insists on not being careless, asks in return whether the severe punishment is appropriate for the offense or not. Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat, former advisor to the leader of the Move Forward Party, spoke about the case of a petition for the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to investigate the ethics of 44 former Move Forward MPs who jointly signed a proposal to amend Section 112, which is considered a severe penalty up to the point of banning them from politics for life, saying that he is not worried but not careless and still insists on his innocence. He also questioned back that everyone's ethics are different and there is no fixed standard. It is not even illegal, but the punishment is severe enough to be a political execution and ban them for life, which shows that the legal proportion of what was done and the punishment that must be received are not co nsistent or not. Mr. Pita said that he wanted to see a system where politics is solved by politics, not by independent organizations. He did not want the people's representatives like himself and Mr. Settha to be distracted from their work by interference from independent organizations that he did not know were independent of whom. Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, former MP of the Move Forward Party, said that he was not concerned about the NACC filing because the ethics of the government see it as an individual matter. He believes that each person can explain the facts of their own part of what they did and insists that no one has violated ethics. They just want the amendment of various laws to be in accordance with the democratic system. Mr. Chaiwat Tulathan, former leader of the Move Forward Party, talked about the case in which the 40th senator filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court that Mr. Settha Thavisin, the Prime Minister, improperly appointed Mr. Pichit Chuenban, the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, which will be ruled on August 14th. If the result of the consideration is in favor of the Prime Minister, he thinks that it is a double standard or not. He stated that the result of the ruling should be in favor of the Prime Minister anyway. Even though he is the opposition party, when the government party has a lawsuit, it does not mean that he must blindly cheer for it to be sued. He personally does not agree with the nomination of Mr. Pichit, but it must be a political responsibility. It should not be a lawsuit for the Constitutional Court to rule. If in the end the ruling is in favor, congratulations. It does not mean that the Move Forward Party has not been treated fairly. Other people must not be treated fairly as well. We must support that all parties, even political opponents, must receive equal justice. Source : Thai News Agency
