According to Thai News Agency, upon arrival at the ice hockey rink, Her Majesty was received by Mr. Luc Tardiv, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, International Olympic Committee member, and her spouse, Mr. Somsak Leeswadtrakul. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn watched the women's ice hockey bronze medal match between Sweden and Switzerland, as an ambassador promoting women's ice hockey for the Federation.

Her Majesty's attire for the event was a floor-length, long-sleeved black jacket with a stand-up collar, made of woven wool with metallic threads, paired with black straight-leg trousers, a black calfskin leather bag, and black ankle boots. Her jewelry included oval opal jabot pins in gold settings and a gold cat's eye apatite ring with diamond accents.

Ice hockey is played between two teams of six players each, comprising one goalkeeper and five skaters. The game lasts for 60 minutes, divided into three 20-minute periods, with the team scoring the most goals declared the winner. In case of a tie at the end of overtime, the game continues until one team scores.

In the evening, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit attended the women's ice hockey gold medal match as Ambassador for Women's Ice Hockey for the International Ice Hockey Federation. The gold medal match is decided by marathon overtime if tied, with the ice being reset during the 20-minute overtime period. The game continues until a goal is scored, without resorting to penalty shootouts.
