Rakchanok Calls on New Labour Minister to Tackle Social Security Concerns

Bangkok: "Rakchanok" urges "Chulaphan," the new Minister of Labour, to urgently address social security issues, push for the Care pension formula, investigate the 850 million baht web app project, and resolve the Sky Nine building scandal. Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list MP from the People's Party, held a press conference to urge the new Minister of Labour to address the issue of social security, stating that she hopes the new Minister will take immediate action.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Rakchanok expressed her hope that Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat would perform better than the previous minister, who she criticized for wasting almost four months of inaction. She emphasized the urgency of implementing the CARE pension formula, which had been approved by the Social Security Board but left pending for seven months, resulting in 5,000 insured individuals passing away while waiting. Ms. Rakchanok also voiced concerns about attempts to overturn new election regulations, urging the minister to heed the voices of the insured who largely disapprove of these changes.

Ms. Rakchanok highlighted the need for the Social Security Board's election, as the board's term expired over 40 days ago, leaving it unable to function effectively. She also criticized the 850 million baht web app project, describing it as unusable and a source of suffering for millions of insured individuals. She called for an investigation into the project's alleged corruption and a restoration of the system's functionality.

Furthermore, Ms. Rakchanok brought attention to the Sky Nine building scandal, urging the new minister to form an investigative committee to address the overpriced transaction and identify those responsible. She expressed her concern about potential interference from influential figures but hoped Mr. Chulaphan would act with integrity.

In response to questions about the new minister's oath of office and the potential impact of political dynamics, Ms. Rakchanok and Mr. Sahasawat Khumkhong, another People's Party MP, emphasized the importance of giving the government a chance to address the issues. They expressed hope for reforms and accountability in the social security system, reminding that all political parties had agreed on a reform agenda during the election campaign.
