Bangkok: Rakchanok Srinok, a Bangkok MP for the Prachachon Party, has firmly stated that the People’s Party will not face detrimental consequences if Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul decides to dissolve Parliament before constitutional amendments are made. Her assertion comes amidst ongoing debates over the Prime Minister’s handling of significant national issues, particularly the removal of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Captain Thammanat Prompao, and the broader issue of scammers.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Rakchanok addressed the Prime Minister’s uncertainty regarding the connection between Captain Thammanat’s dismissal and the scammer problem. She emphasized that the entire country comprehends this link, even if it is not explicitly stated that Captain Thammanat is a scammer. She expressed her disappointment in the government’s failure to address issues such as money laundering and other scams, attributing this to the Prime Minister’s lack of acknowledgment of existing problems.
In response to concerns about a potential no-confidence motion and the dissolution of Parliament, Ms. Rakchanok expressed her priority for the people’s welfare rather than the political implications for the Prime Minister. She criticized the government’s inadequate communication and promotion of anti-scam measures, especially considering the stringent actions taken by international organizations from countries like the United States and the United Kingdom.
Ms. Rakchanok questioned the government’s effectiveness, urging them to clearly communicate their actions to the public. She dismissed concerns that dissolving Parliament would imply the government’s support for wrongdoers, suggesting instead that the government should focus on addressing its own uncertainties about scammers.
Regarding the potential dissolution of Parliament before constitutional amendments, Ms. Rakchanok maintained that the People’s Party would not suffer a “fool’s price.” She argued that a dissolution could prevent another two years of ineffective governance, benefiting the public by avoiding prolonged incompetence.
On the scrutiny of the Kla Tham Party, Ms. Rakchanok clarified that the Prachachon Party is investigating all relevant issues, with a particular focus on the pressing scammer problem. She noted that the public demands answers from the government on this matter, criticizing the slow and insincere response from the authorities.
Addressing allegations from Mr. Pai Lik, MP for Kamphaeng Phet, regarding an MP assistant’s involvement in misconduct, Ms. Rakchanok expressed skepticism about the Kla Tham Party’s seriousness. She highlighted ongoing investigations by the Election Commission, asserting that the Prachachon Party is prepared to face any legitimate accusations, trusting in independent bodies to uphold accountability.
