Ramkhamhaeng University Faces 200 Million Baht Flood Damage

Sanaa:Ramkhamhaeng University The university is accelerating restoration efforts following severe flooding that caused significant damage to its facilities. The flooding in September saw water levels reach nearly 2 meters in some areas, impacting more than half of the buildings, including academic halls and student service areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the university has initially estimated the damage to exceed 200 million baht. This figure is expected to rise as many assets remain submerged, preventing a complete inspection. The electrical system, including submerged equipment and transformers, needs thorough safety checks before operations can resume.

Associate Professor Wuttisak Lapcharoensap, Acting President of the university, highlighted that the flooding is one of the most severe in over 40 years. The university resumed classes on October 5th to avoid disrupting final exams scheduled for mid-October. Measures will be taken to assist students affected by the situation.

The university's public relations emphasized their commitment to moving forward and ensuring educational opportunities remain unaffected. They stressed the importance of collaboration and encouragement in restoring the institution to its former state.
