Rangsiman Rome Exposes Financial Irregularities Involving High-Ranking Police Officers

Bangkok: Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP and deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, has revealed the discovery of money trails in the accounts of several high-ranking police officers, suggesting involvement from politicians beyond the Kla Tham Party. Rangsiman plans to bring this matter to the National Legislative Assembly next week.

According to Thai News Agency, Rangsiman, who is also the chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on State Security, Thai Border Affairs, National Strategy, and National Reform, stated that today’s committee meeting would address the case involving the National Police Chief. The chief has been accused of harassing Police General Surachet Hakpal, known as “Big Joke,” by alleging exam fraud at Chulalongkorn University to prevent his return to the deputy police chief position. This situation is separate from the newly discovered financial information, which corroborates previous disclosures by Mr. Atchariya. The revelations point to significant corruption within the police organization, necessitating a fair investigation.

Rangsiman mentioned that preliminary findings include names of individuals suspected of being linked to the funds, particularly those in the PCT4 unit involved in cybersecurity. Some accounts might be mule accounts, while others might have received direct deposits. Despite the complexity, the accessible information provides a substantial basis for further investigation, though fairness and thoroughness are emphasized in assessing all involved parties.

“We usually encounter sophisticated criminals. This may be a simple matter, but it makes our work easier. The information we obtain is relatively complete enough to be further investigated. However, that doesn’t mean we immediately believe it. We must be fair to all parties involved,” Rangsiman stated.
