Reasons for Noisy Car Suspension Verified by Expert

Accra:An in-depth examination of car suspensions reveals six primary reasons why they might be making noise, with issues ranging from worn-out ball joints to damaged shock absorbers.

According to Thai News Agency, these reasons have been verified with Lt. Phisitphol Khattiya, an Automotive Mechanics Instructor at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Technical School.

The six main causes of noise include worn-out ball joints, which can result from the rubber boot deteriorating and leading to metal-to-metal contact. Worn rubber bushings can also cause squeaking or metallic sounds due to their loss of elasticity. Cracked or worn shock absorber mounts allow direct impacts on the vehicle body, producing loud noises inside the car. Broken shock absorbers result in uncontrolled spring movement and harsh impacts. A worn-out steering rack can create clicking sounds and lead to instability, while a loose brake caliper bolt may cause noise when driving over potholes.

Additional potential causes include broken wheel bearings and worn-out driveshafts, which can also contribute to unusual noises. It is essential to address these issues promptly to prevent further damage and ensure road safety.
