Recommend using herbs and Thai medicine to take care of your health during the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the winter season.

The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine recommends using herbs and traditional medicine to take care of your health during the late rainy season and early winter.

The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine recommends taking care of your health during the late rainy season and early winter by using sour, bitter and spicy herbs such as ginger, galangal, fingerroot, tamarind and Indian gooseberry to cook food such as sour curry with Sesbania flowers to help take care of your health. In addition, when you are sick, you can use the formulas of Andrographis paniculata, Indian gooseberry cough syrup and Pink Continent medicine to treat your symptoms.

?Dr. Somruek Chongsaman, Director-General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, said that the Ministry of Public Health aims to promote the use of herbal medicine. Whenever you are sick, you can use herbs to take care of and treat your health. Therefore, during the transitional period between the end of th
e rainy season and the winter season, the changing weather affects the body, making it easy for people to get sick, especially those with weak bodies. Common health problems during this period are allergies, stuffy nose, sneezing, runny nose, coughing, chills, and fever. Therefore, when preparing food to eat during this period, you must use herbs and vegetables, such as sour curry with sesbania flowers, which is seasoned with sour tamarind juice to expel phlegm and soothe the throat. The spicy flavor from the curry paste helps increase blood circulation and warm the body. Or if you are sick, the herbal medicine recipe, Andrographis paniculata, has properties to treat fever, cough, and sore throat. The Indian gooseberry cough medicine has properties to relieve coughing and expel phlegm. The Pink Continent Medicine has properties to help relieve cold symptoms and allergies. These can be purchased at drug stores or consult a Thai traditional doctor at a hospital near your home. During the cooler weather and the
rainy season, people should take care of their health and stay strong. Avoid getting caught in the rain, keep yourself warm, drink clean water, and get enough sleep.

?Mr. Somsak Krichai, Director of the Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine, added that during the rainy season, the wind element causes illnesses, while in the winter, the water element causes illnesses. During this period, the body has heat lingering from the rainy season. When the weather cools down quickly and the body does not have time to adjust, the fire element is not in control, making it easy to get sick. People with good immunity will not have any symptoms, but people with weak immunity will be at a weak point during this period, making it easy to get sick in the winter. The cold weather causes illnesses. Therefore, to take care of their health initially, people can cook food to balance the body by using sour, bitter, and spicy flavors. Therefore, the sour curry with sesbania flowers is eaten to balance the elements during the change
of seasons. In addition, the curry paste is a combination of herbs and spices with spicy flavors that increase blood circulation and help warm the body. The sour flavor from tamarind helps expel phlegm and soothes the throat. In addition, the addition of sesbania flowers without removing the stamens will help relieve fever during the change of seasons.

?In addition to the above foods, herbs that people should eat during this season include sour foods such as Indian gooseberry, which has the properties of curing colds, curing coughs, dissolving phlegm, and is a laxative; star gooseberry, which has the properties of curing fevers, laxatives, and expelling phlegm; and sesbania flowers, which have the properties of curing seasonal fevers. In addition, if the weather is cold and the body is exposed to too much cold, spicy foods will help create warmth for the body, such as pepper, ginger, galangal, fingerroot, and holy basil, etc.
