Pathum thani: The 1st Army Area Commander is actively overseeing the flood situation in Pathum Thani Province, directing military units to collaborate with various sectors to swiftly address the issue and aid affected residents.
According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Worayot Leungsuwan, Commander of the 1st Army Area and Director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center of the 1st Army Area, visited the province to assess the flood situation and the ongoing efforts to assist those impacted by the floods. He was received by Mr. Ekwit Meepian, Governor of Pathum Thani Province, and Maj. Gen. Sitthijak Romphochi, Commander of the 11th Military Circle, who briefed him on the current flood conditions and the measures being implemented by relevant government agencies. The 11th Military Circle Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center provided insights on flood prevention strategies at Chakri Bongkot Palace, which is situated on the Chao Phraya River’s banks. Discussions also included sustainable solutions and support for flood-affected individuals. The 1st Army Area Commander met with residents impacted by the floods, offering support and distributing relief supplies to vulnerable groups, including those with disabilities and the
elderly.
Furthermore, the Commander and his team inspected flood-prone locations such as under the Nonthaburi Bridge and the speedboat pier in Bang Khae Yaeng District. They addressed water drainage strategies and initial relief efforts with relevant government bodies, focusing on repairing breaches in the riverside floodwall, reinforcing the flood barrier with sandbags, and assisting residents in relocating their belongings to safer areas.
The Commander of Army Region 1 has directed units under the 1st Army Region to maintain vigilance over the flood situation in their respective areas and to be ready to provide assistance. Coordination with all sectors is being emphasized to ensure prompt and effective relief efforts, helping residents to resume their normal lives.
