Buriram: Region 2 Army has announced the evacuation of four provinces after a shooting incident at Phu Pha Lek. The Army Region 2 clarified that the clashes between Phu Pha Lek and Phlan Hin Paet Kon involved Cambodian forces initiating fire, prompting Thai soldiers to respond in line with the rules of engagement. Two soldiers were reported injured during the exchange. Citizens from four provinces have been advised to evacuate to designated shelters.

According to Thai News Agency, the 2nd Army Area Operations Center provided details of the incident along the Thai-Cambodian border. The confrontation began at 2:16 PM when Cambodian forces opened fire in the Phu Pha Lek – Phlan Hin Paet Kon area, which led to a retaliatory response from the Thai side. The exchange of fire continued until 2:50 PM, with the Cambodian side reportedly using anti-personnel weapons. Although the clashes have ceased, local units remain vigilant, closely monitoring the situation.

Due to the prevailing uncertainty and the risk of the conflict escalating, residents of the border provinces of Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani have been urged to follow the evacuation plan and move to shelters to ensure their safety.
