Bangkok: “Athakorn” is confident that the SEA Games opening ceremony will be grand, exciting, and showcase the potential of Thai people to international standards. Mr. Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, presided over a press conference highlighting the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games. Mrs. Pradubran Samanmit, Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Boxing, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Mr. Supapong Chaowalen, Deputy Director-General of the Public Relations Department, Mr. Chaiwat Bunchawalit, Deputy Director-General of the Public Relations Department, Ms. Somjorn Mingkhamlert, Director of the Governor’s Office and SAT spokesperson, and members of the media attended the event at the Broadcasting Operations Center, Radio Broadcasting and Government Information Services, National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT), Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Ratchadaphisek Subdistrict, Din Daeng District, Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, the organizing committee aims to make the SEA Games a platform to showcase the potential of Thai people and the potential of new generations in every aspect. This includes uniting the creative power of Thais in performing arts, music, and design. Performing technology, especially, is used in modern performances to ensure a truly spectacular experience. The goal is to create a “new standard” embodying world-class contemporary technology while preserving Thai roots and charm.
The core concept of the opening ceremony is “Regional Unity,” or WE ARE ONE, the main theme connecting all performances. This concept not only signifies unity but also represents first place and the starting point, as the SEA Games return to Thailand, the birthplace of this sports event 66 years ago. This return is seen as a “Back to the Origin,” creating a new chapter in history with dignity.
The ceremony will feature five performances with unique highlights, including a grand opening that takes the audience back to the SEA Games’ roots, a cultural showcase of diversity, and a show reflecting blossoming regional friendship. A special highlight is the performance by “Thai K-Pop” star BamBam, along with other world-renowned Thai athletes, beauty queens, artists, and musicians. The event will culminate in a torch-lighting ceremony with a new format, promising to create a memorable image for the 33rd SEA Games.
