Region 4 Army Commander Orders Probe into Soldiers’ Public Gunfire Incident.

Phatthalung: The commander of the 4th Army has initiated an investigation into an incident involving soldiers discharging firearms in a public setting, emphasizing that the army will not shield those responsible.

According to Thai News Agency, Colonel Watcharakon On-ngen, the spokesperson for the 4th Army Region, disclosed that the investigation was ordered following a report of a soldier firing a gun in a public area. The involved soldier, from the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 15th Infantry Regiment, is currently participating in military proficiency training for a transfer to the 402nd Engineer Battalion within the 4th Development Division at Aphai Borirak Camp, located in Phatthalung Province.

The incident also involved another soldier, and it stemmed from a personal conflict between the two. The gunfire incident took place on October 12, prompting the filing of a police report and the initiation of a disciplinary investigation. The investigation is ongoing, with results pending.
