Bangkok: The Minister of Defence presided over the royal cremation ceremony for Private First Class Wimol Tabthong, emphasizing that "nothing is more painful than losing a subordinate," and affirming that the family of the fallen soldier will receive the best possible care.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, led the royal cremation ceremony for volunteer ranger Wimol Tabthong of the 45th Ranger Regiment Task Force. Tabthong died during an attack by insurgents at the Bukeh Sami checkpoint in Tan Yong Mas Subdistrict, Ra-ngae District, Narathiwat Province. The solemn event took place at the crematorium of Wat Champatharam, Sangkha District, Surin Province, where high-ranking military commanders, government officials, local leaders, and members of the public gathered to pay their respects.
Before the ceremony, the Minister of Defence visited the families of the fallen heroes, offering condolences and encouragement. He assured the families that the Ministry of Defence would not abandon them, promising continued support in all aspects.
After the cremation ceremony, Lieutenant General Adul presided over the funeral, expressing condolences to the family, relatives, and residents of Sangkha District, Surin Province, who mourn the loss of a son or grandson who sacrificed his life for the nation. He highlighted the collective grief within the armed forces over the loss of personnel who served the nation.
The Minister of Defence assured that the government and the Ministry of Defence will provide full support to the families of those who sacrificed their lives, including welfare, compensation, and quality of life initiatives. The "Hero Universal Healthcare" project, already in place, ensures continued medical treatment for the families of fallen military personnel.
In his closing remarks, Lieutenant General Adul reaffirmed the commitment to honor the sacrifices of all subordinates, pledging to care for their families and continue protecting the nation with unwavering determination.
