Bangkok: The three branches of the Royal Thai Armed Forces fired a 21-gun salute in honor of His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 28th birthday on July 28, 2026, in accordance with long-standing royal tradition.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Army, specifically the 1st Artillery Battalion, 1st Artillery Regiment, Royal Guard, deployed one artillery company to fire a salute at Sanam Luang. They used four 75mm Type 80 light howitzers, firing a total of 21 rounds at an interval of 5 seconds, firing one gun at a time from right to left. The entire salute lasted approximately 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Navy, specifically the 1st Infantry Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, Marine Division, Royal Thai Marine Corps Command, fired a 21-gun salute at Fort Wichai Prasit, Royal Thai Navy Headquarters, Old Royal Palace, Bangkok Yai District, Bangkok.

The Royal Thai Air Force, specifically the Air Defense Regiment and Air Force Infantry Command, fired a 21-gun salute at the Royal Thai Air Force Aviation Park in Don Mueang, Bangkok, to honor His Majesty on this auspicious occasion.

A 21-gun salute is the highest mark of respect given during important royal ceremonies and when welcoming heads of state. Other dignitaries receive salutes of varying amounts according to their rank and position, as per official regulations.
