Bangkok: The government revealed that negotiations for a Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement are nearing completion, with two-thirds of the deal pending. The government is accelerating efforts to open export markets, attract investment, and enhance Thailand's competitiveness.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that the government is continuously advancing negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Thailand and the European Union (EU). Recently, both parties have concluded negotiations on 15 out of 24 chapters, which accounts for almost two-thirds of the total. The focus is now on expediting discussions on the remaining key issues to expand export markets, attract investment, and boost Thailand's long-term competitiveness.

The Thailand-EU FTA negotiations are set to establish a high-standard trade agreement encompassing trade in goods, services, investment, government procurement, intellectual property, and sustainable development. This is intended to enhance economic potential and create new opportunities for businesses on both sides.

The government remains committed to advancing these negotiations to finalize the Thailand-EU FTA. This agreement is seen as a pivotal mechanism to enhance the country's competitiveness, create new trade and investment opportunities for Thai businesses, and drive sustainable economic growth in Thailand.
