Chanthaburi: The Royal Thai Navy is implementing stricter entry and exit regulations at the Chanthaburi and Trat border checkpoints. Rear Admiral Parat Rattanachaiphan, a spokesman for the Royal Thai Navy, has clarified recent media reports about these increased restrictions managed by the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defence Command (CBDDC).
According to Thai News Agency, the measures are part of a broader security mission aimed at preventing the relocation or expansion of cybercrime networks in the border areas. These networks pose a threat to economic security and public safety. The Navy spokesperson explained that while the border checkpoint was previously closed, exceptions were made for humanitarian reasons, such as repatriating emergency or critically ill patients and deporting illegal immigrants, in line with government procedures.
However, due to the rising trend of transnational crime networks using these areas to relocate, the Royal Thai Navy has deemed it necessary to tighten measures further. Additionally, the CPOC is actively monitoring, patrolling, and intercepting illegal entry and exit through natural channels in collaboration with other security agencies. This is to ensure border safety and prevent these areas from being exploited for illegal activities.
