Trat: The Royal Thai Navy has taken a strategic step by placing shipping containers at the border to reduce tension and enhance security, as explained by a Navy spokesperson. These measures are in alignment with the ceasefire agreement and aim to ensure peace in the region.

According to Thai News Agency, Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyapan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, stated that the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Protection Command has strategically placed these containers in the border area at Ban Tha Sen, Chamrak Subdistrict, Mueang District, Trat Province. This action is part of a security measure agreed upon by both countries in a Joint Statement on December 27, 2026.

The decision to deploy containers follows an incident on January 15, 2026, where individuals illegally dismantled the barbed wire fence, leading to clashes that lasted until January 17, 2026. The containers serve as a temporary measure to prevent similar incidents, reduce confrontation, and alleviate fears within the area.

The Royal Thai Navy has been careful to minimize the impact on local residents, ensuring respect for civilians' human rights. Containers have been placed only in necessary locations, particularly where previous vandalism or unrest occurred, to directly and effectively address these issues.
