Trang: Santi Piyatat held a meeting to address the flood crisis in Trang, setting guidelines for providing assistance and systematic rehabilitation to those affected, before visiting the area tomorrow.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Santi Piyatat, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the Prime Minister has assigned him to oversee flood relief, compensation, and rehabilitation efforts for flood victims in Trang Province. Currently, over 13,565 households have been affected, spanning nine districts, 60 subdistricts, 352 villages, seven municipalities, and 33 communities. A meeting of relevant agencies, both central and provincial, was convened to assess the latest situation, establish guidelines for water management, relief, and urgent rehabilitation, and establish long-term flood prevention strategies. The government emphasized that it will implement all measures to alleviate the suffering of the people as quickly as possible.
Tomorrow, the group will be led to visit Ratsada, Wang Wiset, and Huai Yot districts in Trang Province, which have been severely affected by continuous rainfall, causing water from the Banthat mountain range to flow together with water from the Trang River, which has its source in Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. As a result, the area through which the Trang River flows is Ratsada District.
Wang Wiset District, Huai Yot District, Mueang Trang District, and Kantang District are facing severe flooding. Water has overflowed into residents’ homes and is spreading rapidly. The team is prepared to listen to flood situation reports from the Trang Provincial Governor and relevant agencies, such as the Trang Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, Provincial Irrigation, and Provincial Public Health.
Today, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, Lieutenant Colonel Songwanpong Pinsuwan, has been assigned to visit the area in advance to monitor the flash flood and forest runoff situation, together with the Trang Provincial Governor, at the Incident Command Center on the 5th floor of Trang Provincial Hall.
“Amid this flood crisis, the government is ready to mobilize all forces and integrate assistance quickly and effectively. This is because we must stand with the people as much as possible. Every problem must be resolved, and it must be resolved as quickly as possible,” said Mr. Santi.
