Shooting Incident Involving Rescue Workers on Lat Phrao Road Injures Three

Bangkok: Rescue workers from two well-known foundations were involved in a shooting incident on Lat Phrao Road, injuring three people. The incident is suspected to be a dispute over the injured person.

According to Thai News Agency, the altercation occurred at 1:00 AM when Wang Thonglang Police Station received a report of a fight and shooting between rescue workers at the entrance to Soi Lat Phrao 122, Phlapphla Subdistrict, Wang Thonglang District. Police responded swiftly to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found a pool of blood and five bullet casings scattered across the road. Three individuals were injured in the incident: Mr. Jirayut, aged 27, sustained a gunshot wound to the neck, and Mr. Akkaradet, aged 36, suffered a gunshot wound above the left nipple. Both men are volunteers with the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and were transported to Lat Phrao Hospital. Ms. Chitthiwa, aged 25, a volunteer with the Siam Ruam Jai Foundation, was also injured and taken to Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital.

Investigations revealed that both groups of rescue workers arrived at the scene following a motorcycle accident report at the entrance to Soi Lat Phrao 122. While administering first aid to the injured motorcyclist, a disagreement escalated into a fight, culminating in the firing of 5-6 gunshots, which resulted in the injuries.

Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting further interviews with the injured parties. The incident is believed to have stemmed from a conflict over the injured motorcyclist. The suspected gunman, described as wearing a t-shirt and three-quarter length pants, fled the scene and is being actively pursued by police for questioning and potential legal action.
