Sihasak Seeks to Resolve Thai-Cambodian Border Issue at Brussels Forum

Brussels: Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is set to attend the 4th EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Brussels, Belgium, with the aim of presenting his vision for security and strengthening relations. The forum also serves as a platform for addressing the Thai-Cambodian border issue.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nikorndej Plangkul, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, disclosed that Sihasak will lead the Thai delegation at the forum scheduled from November 20-21, 2025. The event will witness participation from representatives of 70 countries.

The forum is themed “Building together a resilient, prosperous and secure future” and is designed to facilitate an exchange of ideas and strategies to enhance cooperation between the EU and the Indo-Pacific region amid shifting global geopolitics. Sihasak is expected to articulate Thailand’s vision in a roundtable discussion on security priorities in light of current geopolitical developments.

Furthermore, Sihasak will deliver remarks at the closing session of the forum, alongside representatives from the Indo-Pacific region. He has also scheduled bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from EU member states, including the High Representatives of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, covering a total of eight countries.

Mr. Nikorndej emphasized that Thailand’s involvement underscores a proactive role in enhancing the EU’s Pacific Pillar. It also offers a chance to further shared interests in areas like security, sustainable economics, and combating transnational crime and online fraud. Sihasak aims to clarify Thailand’s stance on the Thai-Cambodian border issue during these discussions.
