Soldier Loses Leg After Stepping on Landmine in Surin Province

Surin: The 2nd Army Area Command has provided an explanation regarding an incident in which a soldier lost his right leg after stepping on a landmine in the Chong Rayi area of Surin province. Initial investigations suggest that the landmine was not newly planted but was deeply buried and covered with fallen leaves, complicating its detection.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place while the soldier was on duty in an area under the control of Thai forces in the Kab Choeng District of Surin Province. The landmine's location, buried deep beneath the earth and concealed by natural debris, contributed to the unfortunate accident. The soldier has been swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where his condition is under careful observation.

The 2nd Army Region has emphasized that relevant units are actively working to enhance the safety of personnel operating in the area. The commitment to ensuring the well-being of soldiers on duty remains a priority as efforts continue to prevent such incidents in the future.
