Songkhla: The Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has approved a budget allocation of 4,755.168 million baht to assist flood victims in Songkhla Province. The Songkhla Provincial Disaster Relief Committee has sanctioned this aid for 528,352 households affected by the flooding. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has directed the Songkhla Governor to expedite the release of these funds to ensure rapid assistance to those in need.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, participated in overseeing the aid distribution process during the Songkhla Provincial Disaster Relief Committee meeting No. 12/2025. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Wittaya Chansena, Deputy Governor of Songkhla Province, and attended by heads of relevant government agencies and district chiefs from all 16 districts. Mr. Thirut Suphawibunphon, Director-General of the Department of Local Administration, was also present.
Mr. Arsit emphasized the urgency of disbursing the government reserve funds, as approved by the Comptroller General’s Department, to bolster the flood relief efforts with an additional 100 million baht. This measure aims to provide swift and comprehensive relief for those currently impacted by the floods, ensuring maximum benefit for the affected communities.
The Permanent Secretary urged district chiefs and government agencies to integrate their resources to address and resolve problems in their districts effectively. He also called for a prompt survey of the impact on agriculture and livestock, following the Prime Minister’s directive, to ensure rapid alleviation of the situation.
During the meeting, assistance was approved for flood victims across all 16 districts, with each household receiving 9,000 baht. The total aid amounts to 4,755,168,000 baht, distributed among various districts including Rattaphum, Mueang Songkhla, Khlong Hoi Khong, and Hat Yai, among others. The meeting also tasked district chiefs with surveying additional flood victims for further approval in the next meeting.
