Hat yai: Sonthiya Sawasdee, a former advisor to the House of Representatives’ Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights, has filed a complaint with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) against Mayor Pan and the Songkhla Governor. The complaint accuses them of negligence in their duties, which allegedly led to severe flooding in Hat Yai. Sonthiya is demanding their resignation within the next week.
According to Thai News Agency, Sonthiya’s letter to the DSI emphasizes the need for accountability from the Mayor of Hat Yai Municipality and the Governor of Songkhla Province. He warns that if they fail to resign, he will escalate the complaint to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Administrative Court, and inform the residents of Hat Yai.
Sonthiya clarified that he did not call for the resignation of the government, the Prime Minister, or the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. He noted that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and the Meteorological Department have been issuing continuous warnings and that their systems are functioning at full capacity.
