Bangkok: Mr. Sophon Saram, Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, introduced the prospective candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives election across key districts in Kalasin, Roi Et, and Kanchanaburi provinces. In Kalasin, the party has fielded candidates for six districts: Mr. Thetphaenphaendinthong Tharachai (District 1), Ms. Wanphen Settharaksa (District 2), Mr. Detbordin Payungsaenkun (District 3), Mr. Wirat Phutongchai (District 4), Ms. Phattharaphon Woramitra (District 5), and Ms. Sattabut Bunruang (District 6).
According to Thai News Agency, Bhumjaithai’s representation in Roi Et includes candidates for eight districts: Mr. Thanachai Sinthuprai (District 1), Ms. Wasakamon Onprathum (District 2), Mr. Kittisak Lertsirirangsan (District 3), Mr. Niran Namuangrak (District 4), Mr. Chaiwut Iamrasamikun (District 5), Ms. Kavisara Somthap (District 6), Mr. Sakda Kongphet (District 7), and Mr. Thanakrit Chatanulak (District 8). Additionally, in Kanchanaburi Province, Mr. Prawinwat Bunyong has been named as the candidate for District 5.
Mr. Sopon expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure more than half of the MP seats in both Kalasin and Roi Et provinces, despite having previously held only one seat in Kalasin and no established presence in Roi Et. He highlighted the positive reception the party has received during field visits, attributing it to popular policies like the “Half-Half Plus” program and initiatives aimed at tackling drug addiction, which include establishing drug treatment centers in every district.
“Today, the Bhumjaithai Party has enjoyed a tremendous public response,” Mr. Sopon stated, acknowledging the party’s increased momentum and practical approach. He emphasized the readiness of the party to prove its performance through actions, supported by capable ministerial personnel and policies. The party aims to blend the energy of the new generation with the experience of older politicians to strengthen its position.
Mr. Sopon also addressed the party’s status as a minority government, committing to work diligently during the interim period following the dissolution of Parliament. He expressed optimism that demonstrating their performance over the next four months could pave the way for a return to government for a full four-year term.
