Chonburi: The President of the Crime Reporters Association of Thailand presented an honorary award to promote innovation in the use of drones in news photography, Reporter Special Accessories (RSA), for the year 2023-2024, to Mr. Amporn Saengkaew, a special reporter for the Thai News Agency in Chonburi Province. The award ceremony included the presence of the Director of the Domestic News Division, the Director of News Image Production and Creation Division, and the Head of the Central and Eastern News Centers, who were representatives receiving the award alongside Mr. Saengkaew.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sirote Mingkwan, President of the Crime Reporters Association of Thailand, presented the prestigious honorary award to Mr. Amporn Saengkaew, recognizing his contributions to the innovative use of drones in news photography. The award, designated for the year 2023-2024, was symbolized by a drone pilot helmet and a certificate. The event was attended by notable figures such as Ms. Orrawan Chudee, Dir
ector of the Domestic News Division, Mr. Thanakorn Pliansuphap, Director of the News Image Production and Creation Division, and Mr. Chusak Manarangsan, Head of the Central and Eastern News Center.
Mr. Sirote emphasized the evolution of news reporting from static images to moving images, and now to advanced technologies like AI and drone photography. He highlighted the growing popularity of aerial photography, or ‘bird’s eye view,’ in the mass media industry for its ability to enhance viewer understanding. The skills required for drone photography, including aircraft control, legal knowledge, and ethical considerations, were underscored as essential for integration into news reporting.
