Bangkok: Pollution Control Department reports PM2.5 dust levels exceeding the standard in 12 provinces, while Bangkok is mostly above the standard. Warning to monitor again on 17-19 Nov.

According to Thai News Agency, the Air Pollution Resolution Communication Center released the Air Quality Monitoring Report for November 13, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. It indicated that the overall amount of PM2.5 in the country exceeded the standard in 12 provinces, including Pathum Thani, Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Nan, Sing Buri, Saraburi, Ang Thong, Kanchanaburi, and Chachoengsao.

In the northern region, dust levels surpassed the standard in one area, with measurements ranging from 11.1 to 40.3 micrograms per cubic meter. The northeastern region’s dust levels were in the moderate range, measured between 15.2 and 34.9 micrograms per cubic meter. The central and western regions exceeded the standard in four areas, with readings between 19.9 and 58.5 micrograms per cubic meter. The eastern reg
ion also surpassed the standard in one area, with measurements ranging from 10.3 to 39.5 micrograms per cubic meter. Meanwhile, the southern region was reported to be in very good condition overall, with dust levels between 4.9 and 22.8 micrograms per cubic meter.

In Bangkok and its vicinity, measurements taken by the Pollution Control Department’s monitoring stations, in collaboration with the BMA, showed that dust levels mostly exceeded the standard, ranging from 31.0 to 65.1 micrograms per cubic meter.

Health advice has been issued to the public, suggesting they monitor their health, reduce time spent on outdoor activities, or use personal protective equipment. People who require special health care are advised to take similar precautions and consult a doctor if they experience any symptoms.

The forecast for the dust situation indicates that PM2.5 levels in Bangkok and its vicinity are expected to increase on 17-19 November 2024, with continued monitoring necessary in some areas. The 17 northern provin
ces are reported to be continuously good, though some areas require monitoring. In the northeastern region, an increase in dust levels is anticipated from 14-20 November 2024. Conversely, the eastern region’s dust levels are expected to decrease during the same period and maintain a very good status, while the southern region remains continuously very good.
