Bangkok:A disaster relief kitchen has been set up by the village fund initiative "Suksomruay," in collaboration with the Phetkasem Foundation, to provide aid to flood victims in Bangkok. The initiative aims to distribute 20,000 boxes of food per day to those affected.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sukhsomruay Wantaniyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, has been working under the policy of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the Minister of Interior, to support residents impacted by the ongoing flooding in several areas. The National Village and Urban Community Fund Office (NVUCO) and the Phetkasem Foundation have set up the disaster relief kitchen at the Khan Na Yao District Office to assist approximately 90,000 affected individuals by providing food and drinking water, especially in regions severely hit by floods where meal preparation has become challenging.
The mobile kitchen unit from the Village Fund and the Phetkasem Foundation will remain at the Kannayao District Office for about five days or until the situation improves. It will distribute 20,000 boxed meals daily, offering dishes suitable for various dietary needs, including religious considerations. The distribution began on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 1200 PM.
Ms. Sukhsomruay emphasized the urgency of delivering swift and safe assistance to those suffering due to the floods. She expressed hope that the meals provided through the mobile kitchens would ease the hardship faced by the residents, reassuring them that they are not alone and that help is available. She also highlighted the government's commitment to mobilizing all necessary resources for immediate relief and future recovery from the floods.
She further urged unity among the people, emphasizing the importance of helping each other in times of crisis. She extended her gratitude to volunteers and officials who have been tirelessly working to aid their fellow citizens during this challenging period.
