Chanthaburi: "Supajee" visited Chanthaburi province to monitor the production and export of quality durian, while also promoting online commerce and processing to add value to Thai agricultural products for the international market.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, led a delegation to a durian orchard in Chantakhelam Subdistrict, Khao Khitchakut District, Chanthaburi Province. The visit aimed to assess the production and export situation of durian, from fruit selection and harvesting to the development of product standards to meet the demands of international markets. Ms. Supajee also visited booths showcasing quality durian and other fruits under the "Q-Chan" brand, alongside a booth highlighting processed products, including cosmetics made from durian flower extract under the "Durrianar Thailand" brand. These local brands are designed to add value to agricultural produce, providing farmers with an opportunity to offer feedback and discuss durian processing and value-added products with the president of the Chanthaburi Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Supajee observed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between government and private sector agencies to promote trade through e-commerce channels. This initiative focuses on online sales platforms and creator live streams, serving as a strategic mechanism for expanding the market reach of Thai agricultural products.
During the visit, Ms. Supajee also attended a live stream event selling durian through Live Commerce to the Chinese market. The event featured famous influencer Yan Gongzhu (Yan Zhen Xian), who traveled to Thailand to conduct the live stream, inviting Chinese consumers interested in high-quality Thai durian.
The visit culminated with the launch of fruit export caravans targeting international markets and fruit caravans entering Modern Trade stores. This initiative aims to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of Thai durian with the standards of trading partner countries.
