Supaji Celebrates Major Deal as Premium Rice Sales Hit 450 Tons Worth 16 Million Baht

Bangkok: “Supaji” has successfully finalized a significant transaction involving the sale of over 450 tons of “Premium Rice,” valued at 16 million baht, marking a notable advancement for Thai rice and coffee in the premium market.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun, the Minister of Commerce, inaugurated the Thailand Rice Fest 2025 and Thailand Coffee Fest Year End 2025 at Impact Muang Thong Thani. During the event, she announced initiatives to elevate “precious rice” and Thai GI products to a world-class premium status. The Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with TDeD and Rice Hub, is working on developing tools and standards from upstream to downstream processes, aiming to enhance the value of smallholder farmers’ products by 5-10 times.

The event featured the efforts of over 20 farmer groups across the nation and facilitated business matching sessions. These sessions resulted in immediate success when buyers and producers concluded deals for 450 tons of refined rice, valued at approximately 16 million baht. This achievement highlights the potential of local Thai rice, which has seen improvements in standards, characteristics, and marketing thanks to the efforts of government agencies, the private sector, and The Cloud platform.

Besides refined rice, the event also featured a GI Pavilion that brought together entrepreneurs and potential GI producers, including Thung Kula Rong Hai Hom Mali rice and Sangyod Mueang Phatthalung rice. Doi Tung Coffee and Thepsadet Coffee were also part of this initiative. Currently, there are over 244 Thai GI products that generate more than 110 billion baht in value, providing farmers with access to premium markets both domestically and internationally. However, Ms. Suphajee stressed that this event marks the “start of a new system” aimed at fostering sustainable growth in Thai agricultural products in the future.
