Bangkok: Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has unveiled two strategic approaches aimed at propelling Thailand's agricultural sector towards greater prosperity and competitiveness. The strategies focus on structural reform of the agricultural sector and the establishment of agricultural industrial estates, designed to connect production, processing, and export processes.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriya chaired a significant meeting alongside the Senate's Agriculture and Cooperatives Committee, led by Mr. Sunthorn Chaowkitka, to engage in discussions on advancing the agricultural sector. Ms. Piyarat Tiyapairat, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, along with other ministry executives, participated to explore these transformative approaches.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has detailed a plan involving two main strategies. The first strategy emphasizes restructuring the agricultural sector to enhance farmers' quality of life and ensure food security. This involves focusing on efficient management of water, land, and production factors, while sustainably boosting farmers' incomes, adding value to agricultural products, and managing national agricultural data effectively.

The second strategy involves the development of integrated agricultural industrial parks. These parks aim to create added value and link the entire agricultural product value chain, from production to processing and export. The initiative seeks to involve Thai SMEs, cooperatives, community enterprises, and the private sector in the value-added chain, thus bolstering the competitiveness of Thailand's agricultural sector.

Mr. Suriya expressed the ministry's readiness to fortify the agricultural sector. The goal is to produce high-quality products that meet market demands and compete globally, all while improving farmers' quality of life by ensuring stable and sustainable incomes.
