Bangkok: Survey results indicate a significant dissatisfaction among citizens regarding the government’s flood management strategies.
According to Thai News Agency, a survey conducted by Assistant Professor Sanit Sirivisitkul, head of the North Bangkok Poll at North Bangkok University, involved 960 citizens from various regions across the country. The survey, conducted between November 27, 2025, and December 1, 2025, focused on gathering opinions about the government’s flood management and solutions.
The findings reveal that 92.3% of the respondents expressed dissatisfaction, with 69.20% rating the government’s efforts as very poor and 23.10% as poor. Only a small fraction, 7.70%, considered the management to be good. The survey also explored the efficiency in assisting disaster victims, with 76.9% of respondents indicating that the assistance was inadequate.
The survey examined several aspects of flood management, including drainage efficiency and speed of notification. For drainage efficiency, 46.20% of respondents rated it as poor, while 30.80% considered it moderate, and 23% viewed it as very poor. The speed of notification was regarded as very bad by 46.20%, with varying opinions on its effectiveness.
Communication efficiency and interagency integration were also scrutinized. The communication efficiency was deemed poor by 53.80% and very poor by 30.80%. The accuracy of information received similar criticism, with a significant percentage of respondents rating it poorly.
Regarding interagency integration, 46.20% viewed it as poor, and 21.10% as very poor. The survey highlighted that most respondents relied on social media for information, followed by television and online news websites.
Finally, when asked about areas needing improvement, 100% of respondents highlighted the need for better emergency assistance, while 92.30% emphasized the importance of efficient water drainage. Other areas needing attention included data management, advance warning systems, long-term planning, and post-flood recovery measures.
