Phuket: A 50-year-old gunman has been arrested for shooting a coworker in a warehouse before fleeing and hiding in a daily rental room. He confessed to having long-standing problems with the victim.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from inside a warehouse at a department store in Phuket province shows Mr. Wirat, 40, a salesperson, arranging goods when Mr. Prakit, 50, the perpetrator, approached him holding a gun and shot him. Mr. Wirat fled for his life and called a friend to pick him up and take him to the hospital. He was initially shot once in the torso and once in the thigh. The incident occurred on April 6th.
Following a tip-off from a concerned citizen, police at Phuket City Police Station apprehended the suspect after he was found hiding in a hotel in Talat Yai Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. He showed no resistance. Officers seized the revolver used in the crime and 25 rounds of ammunition as evidence. The suspect was then taken to Phuket City Police Station for questioning.
Initially, the suspect confessed to shooting his coworker, claiming that they had a long-standing conflict and arguments. On the day of the incident, he became enraged and used a firearm to commit the crime before fleeing and renting a daily room.
Police have charged the suspect with attempted murder, possession and use of a firearm without a permit, carrying a firearm in a public place without a permit, and firing a gun in a public area.
