According to Thai News Agency, this afternoon, Pol. Maj. Gen. Nophasil Phoolsawat, Deputy Commissioner of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police, will escort Mr. Chalo, the suspect in the robbery of 198 baht worth of gold from a prominent shopping mall in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok, by plane from Chiang Rai Province to Phra Khanong Police Station for questioning by the Commissioner of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police. The suspect has initially confessed to all charges. This follows a manhunt by Bangkok Metropolitan Police investigators for the "Straw Hat Thief," which resulted in Mr. Chalo's arrest yesterday while he was preparing to flee to a neighboring country.
The suspect will be taken to the scene of the crime at the gold shop and to point out the apartment in the Sukhumvit area where he rented a room to plan the crime and his escape.
